In this video I go over the process to generate future weather data with a weather generating tool. This experiment is referencing an idea generated  here that Chicago in the future will be similar in climate to the current day Baton Rouge LA. With this weather generating model and Ecotect’s Weather Tool I am able […]

Future Weather Data [Part 1]

So here is an interesting idea I stumbled into, can we visualize and use “Future Weather Data”? As it is we currently use weather data collected from the past to design buildings that will be built and function into the future. It is implied that weather (long-range view) is constant which it is not, so, […]

Data Visualization

Wine Pairing Chart infographic by madelinep.   Recently I have been geeking out on Data Visualization. This is an area that has been booming recently and Visual.ly has been a company I follow. Adam Cohen on PassivHaus

Here is a great video where Adam Cohen describes PassivHaus, and it’s use/potential beyond residential construction. Adam is co-founder of Structure Design/Build working in the Roanoke region and making buildings to a better standard.

Wall Joins [Passive House]

Another quick video on the use of wall joins and the ramification in documentation and scheduling Materials. Been a long time since I’ve seen this, and not sure if it is edited, so sorry if it bounces around!

RefDims and Treated Floor Area [Passive House]

This is the first video in the PHPP series. I go over the use of Rooms to get the TFA out and using Masses for the overall volumetric measurements. This is using the PHIUS 2007 PHPP, this actually works best for the metric European version of PHPP (PHI), same ideas just different outputs.

In this video i go through the steps to set up Revit to output the needed PHPP information. I cover Materials, Wall Schedules, and some of the calculation I am starting to do now in Revit.
